Leave your plants in good hands

A plant sitter needs more than “water once a week.” Give each pot its own instructions: where it lives, what to check, and when to leave it alone.

Fill in the three cards below and print them, or save as PDF from your browser. No signup. Your notes are not submitted or saved by this worksheet; keep a printed copy before closing or refreshing the page. Share the blank worksheet link with a friend.

Before you go

  • Check drainage and show the sitter how to empty each saucer or outer pot.
  • Write the moisture check that suits each plant. A fern and a snake plant need different routines.
  • Keep plants in their usual suitable light. Tell the sitter which curtains and room conditions to maintain.
  • Point out existing damage so a familiar brown tip does not trigger extra watering.
  • Leave a contact for questions and ask for a photo if a plant changes.

Example instruction: “Check the soil before adding water. Follow the dryness threshold we agreed for this pot, water the soil, let excess drain, then empty the saucer. If the pot is still wet or the plant changes, send a photo before doing more.”

Common questions

Should a plant sitter water every plant on the same day?

Check each pot first. Plant type, light, pot size and soil affect how quickly it dries. Write a moisture check for each plant instead of asking a sitter to water everything on a fixed schedule.

Can I fill this out without signing up?

Yes. Type your notes into the cards, then print or save as PDF using your browser. The worksheet does not submit or save these fields. Closing or refreshing the page clears the notes.

Can Evergreen look after plants while I travel?

Maintenance visits are available from Sarasota to Port Charlotte, subject to availability. Ask about the visit schedule and a quote before leaving. Monthly support and seasonal programs have different visit allowances; confirm which visits are included.

Why check the soil first?

Water needs vary with the plant and its environment. Clemson Extension explains how light, temperature, potting mix and drainage affect watering. These cards help record the routine for a particular pot; they do not diagnose a sick plant.

A little care, in thirty seconds

A watering day is a reminder to look.

Silent graphic tip. Play when you like, or read the same notes below.

Read the tip
  1. A watering day is a reminder to look. Your pot gets a say, too.
  2. Start with the plant. Keep the exact name close. A fern and a snake plant do not need the same moisture routine.
  3. Check before you pour. Feel the growing mix and notice pot weight. Match the check to that plant, rather than treating a calendar as a rule.
  4. Give the water a way out. Check drainage and empty collected runoff. An outer decorative pot can hide standing water.
  5. Leave a note for every pot. Use the free plant-sitter care cards at evergreenhouseplantcare.com/plant-sitter-care-card/
